Easy pant hem for short girls...
I've seen this sewing hack in lots of places, but never tried it. I didn't quite get it. So I mainly shop for 'ankle length' pants because they end up being full length on me at 5'1". I'm going to share how I did it in hopes of helping someone else! This was super fast and easy. First you need to put the pants on, and roll them up - but NOT showing how much you want taken off! You want to roll the bottom hem up to where you want the new hem to be... so, really, you're rolling the pants up about half as much as you want taken off. Then match the other leg and pin.
Here you can see that I've just put pins into the first leg. The idea is that you are going to sew a line all the way around the leg, right next to the finished hem.
Then you'll cut the excess off, fold the original hem back down, and not even see the stitching you just did! It's like stealing the old hem and just raising it up! Here's what the stitching looks like after I finished the first leg. I was too lazy to switch the thread and bobbin to a closer matching color, but it doesn't even matter! You won't see it!
Now you just have to cut the excess fabric off, which you know I'm going to save and make into something else (I hope!)
And voila!
The stitching you see is the original hem. My stitches are hidden in the fold above the hem! Try it and let me know what you think!
